This is a new type of vinyl lettering which you simply "lift & stick". Only 70 microns thick with a permanent adhesive suitable for static or outdoor use without further treatment. Excellent for Remote Control models. Also, useful for various domestic and industrial applications. These self-adhesive sheets include letters and numbers in 4 different sizes: 3, 6, 10 or 15mm height.
Presently produced in 8 colors: Matt Black, Matt Red, Gloss Blue, Gloss Green, Gloss Yellow, Metallic Gold, and Metallic Silver. Most other colors in a gloss finish available on request by e-mail to LHDockyard@aol.com
Each set contains sufficient quantities of letters, numbers & naval symbols to meet most needs. Please note that the 3mm sheet does not include the selection of smaller letters and numbers, roman numerals and naval symbols which appear on the 6, 10 and 15mm sheets.
The characters and symbols are computer cut from a flexible vinyl film with a waxed backing sheet with the surplus film remaining in place to prevent the letters becoming loose.
Each of the characters can easily be handled individually and are not to be confused with fiddly waterslide transfers or rub-down lettering which are difficult to apply to 3-dimensional surfaces.
Characters are removed from the backing sheet and applied directly to the model. The permanent adhesive ensures the letters remain in place without any additional treatment although they will withstand over coating with all standard varnishes and sealers.
The letters can be applied to almost any substrate as long as it is clean and free from dust. Being only 70 microns thick, they conform easily to uneven surfaces and can be molded further with the application of mild heat, from a hair dryer.
The sets are supplied with full color instructions to help in positioning.

Instructions how to apply vinyl lettering
Remove any dust or grease from the surface to receive the lettering prior to application. Apply a piece of tape or a small strip of spare vinyl to act as a baseline for the text. This should be thick enough to butt the letters against. |
Carefully lift the individual characters from the backing sheet with a scalpel or tweezers and apply to the surface with gentle pressure. If the letters are cold they may appear stiff. Heat gently with a hair dryer to soften the vinyl. This will improve the adhesive qualities and allow the characters to be molded onto irregular surfaces. |
When happy with the layout apply medium pressure with finger. The adhesive will reach full strength in 24 hours and will be suitable for external use. |
If required, the vinyl can be over coated with normal varnish and sealer. To Remove unwanted text, warm the vinyl and peel carefully, then remove the adhesive residue with white spirit. |
