Nicky is a classic shrimping cutter,
typical of dozens of vessels based in various North Sea ports. Our version is
designed to a scale of about 1:20, producing a model which is easy to
transport. In keeping with the full-size vessels the model includes all the
characteristic features of the ship type: squat, pugnacious hull, wheelhouse
set far aft, extensive rigging with shrimping nets, and deck-mounted
processing apparatus including sieve, shrimp boiler and net winch. The accurately
modeled detail features make a big contribution to the convincing scale
character of the model. The Nicky is designed for an economical electric
motor with 3:1 gearbox and large lead/acid battery, and with this power
system it looks extremely realistic on the water and gives very long running
times. The hull is ultra-stable thanks to its considerable displacement. Even
the operational and ambient sounds of the full-size vessels can be reproduced
realistically if you install the »Fishing cutter« TOP-SOUND 2 module, No.
2461. The more advanced and demanding marine modeler will enjoy fitting out
the boat with further auxiliary working system, such as remote control of the
shrimping nets. Quick-build plans showing RC installation, illustrated
