Dynamic Models and Staubitz of Buffalo find a new home in Western NY

The entire collection of molds used to produce the legendary line of models formerly marketed by Dynamic Models of Port Jefferson Station NY has been purchased by Loyalhanna Dockyard.  Additionally, the molds from the Staubitz of Buffalo collection that had been transferred to Dynamic when Staubitz of Buffalo ceased operations have also been acquired by Loyalhanna Dockyard as well as all remaining inventory that Dynamic Models had on hand.  All molds will be returned to production as soon as possible and the resultant moldings available to the scale model boat community via website and mail ordering methods.

Dynamic Models which was in the forefront of RC modeling since its inception in 1955 until its closing in 1994 was acquired by Art Bauer in 1978.  Under Mr. Bauer’s direction Dynamic Models became the #1 supplier of high quality fiberglass models to the RC scale boat community during the 1980’s.  During this same time period Dynamic Models also introduced the Marx and Rivabo names to the US market, originated models of the Famous Carol Moran tug and became the exclusive distributor of the legendary Staubitz of Buffalo line.  Their commitment to the RC scale boat community even extended to the development of a Vietnam Riverine series of models giving justice to this forgotten era of American naval heritage.

The tradition of both the Staubitz of Buffalo and Dynamic Models product lines will be continued on by Loyalhanna Dockyard   This acquisition is especially important to the staff of Loyalhanna because Glenn Staubitz was a longtime member of the Buffalo Model Powerboat Club and the first of two fiberglass experts to teach Don the art of fiberglass model boat construction.  It is a definite homecoming for the Staubitz line.  Equally important are the Dynamic Models hulls as they were the cornerstone of the RC scale model boat community for years.  This acquisition creates an historic merging of many of the key fiberglass hull suppliers from the 1960’s through the late 1990’s.  Under one roof are the products of Dynamic Models, Staubitz Of Buffalo, Hartman Fiberglass, Ron Burchett Models and Character Ship Models.

A new print catalog and website will be created merging these five product lines along with the hulls being produced under the Dockyard Moldings label.  All will be hand made in our new climate controlled fiberglass shop and available in white gel coat standard with other colors available upon request.  There are also many new hull masters in the works to be released throughout 2011 and 2012 so stay tuned for further exciting announcements.

In closing here is a quote from Richard Bauer, son of Art Bauer:

“From a historic perspective, this collection of scale hulls from Dynamic and Staubitz are a treasure to the modeling community.  Don and his crew at Loyalhanna Dockyard have so impressed us with their commitment to continuing the quality tradition of my father, Art Bauer, and Glenn Staubitz, we felt compelled to take these boats out of drydock.  Happy Modeling.”
